Volvo is now launching trucks that can cut CO2 emissions by 20 to 100 per cent. With a firm focus on new, energy-efficient technology for gas-powered vehicles, Volvo Trucks makes it possible to significantly reduce the climate impact of heavy regional and long-haul transport operations.

World Premiere: Telia To Show Off 5G Using Remote-Controlled Excavator

Tallinn hosted the 2017 Digital Summit on Friday that brought together EU heads of state or government. The exhibition area of the Tallinn Digital Summit features remote-controlled excavator which is operated over the 5G network.

The Digital Expo features Telia’s stand, which shows off together with Ericsson and Intel one of the possible industrial applications of 5G – a remotely-controlled excavator.

The remotely operated excavator provides a good example of how virtual and augmented reality can shape our daily lives already in the near future. It will make it possible to avoid subjecting people to dangerous work conditions – heavy machinery can be operated from a safe location in any part of the world.

VIDEO: Telia to Launch First 5G Test Network in Estonia on Passenger Ship Tallink Europa

5G radio network has been built on Tallink’s cruise ship Silja Europa to test the new technology in September. The 5G network will replace the fiber optic cable that is connected with the ship upon docking with the purpose of improving the connectivity during increased data traffic that occurs when the ship is docked.

Previous tests show that 5G technology is perfect for handling large data traffic. Additionally, excellent connectivity is available throughout the ship when it enters the port’s waters, i.e. before the ship is actually docked.

ABB to acquire GE Industrial Solutions

ABB today announced the acquisition of GE Industrial Solutions, GE’s global electrification solutions business. GE Industrial Solutions has deep customer relationships in more than 100 countries and an established installed base with strong roots in North America, ABB’s biggest market. GE Industrial Solutions is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and has about 13,500 employees around the world. In 2016, GE Industrial Solutions had revenues of approximately $2.7 billion, with an operational EBITDA margin of approximately 8 percentand an operational EBITA margin of approximately 6 percent1. ABB will acquire GE Industrial Solutions for $2.6 billion; the transaction will be operationally accretive in year one.

Hadrian X - one-handed bricklaying robot is ready for production

House building and brick laying is not hand made any more. Fastbrick Robotics have develoiped a one-arm robot who can "3d print" brick walls many times faster than homan. Their developed robot is ready for production now.

Hadrian X can place 1000 bricks per hour, and many building companies are interested using this system for building quicly new homes. For example, Saudi Arabia is interested of robotic building of 50 000 houses until 2022.

ABB's YuMi Robot Takes Center Stage in Pisa, Conducts Andrea Bocelli and Lucca Symphony Orchestra

YuMi, the world's first truly collaborative dual-arm robot, made its debut at the opera on Tuesday (Sept. 12) by conducting Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and the Lucca Philharmonic Orchestra at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa.

YuMi, which is manufactured by Swiss technology pioneer ABB, was invited to the stage by Mr. Bocelli, who performed the famous aria "La Donna è Mobile" from Verdi's Rigoletto. YuMi also conducted works of Puccini and Mascagni during its first night at the opera in front of a sold-out Teatro.

Among the guests was ABB CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer, under whose leadership YuMi was developed.

The unique demonstration showed what can happen when advanced robotics meets the arts.

Military bridges are built very quick and they have to carry heavy arvmoured vehicles - it´s not a simple task. If river is wide enough, only puntoon bridge is possible.

The fastest way of building a long pontoon bridge is to use special amphibian vehicles.

Troops from Lithuania and Poland conduct a water crossing operation utilizing M3 Amphibious Rigs in Rukla, Lithuania, during Saber Strike 17.
