Machine learning solutions for improving communication developed in Latvia

Machine learning technology is increasingly entering people's daily lives and its application is becoming more extensive, from email filtering and computer vision solutions to forecasting tools and language processing. There are also practical and day-to-day solutions in Latvia that use machine learning methods. Find out what is new in the machine learning industry and interesting solutions for business development at the RIGA COMM Machine Learning Conference on October 15 in Ķīpsala.

“More machine-learning solutions for communication analysis will emerge in the coming years, which will enable everybody to improve daily communication and make brand communication more efficient in any company,” tells Aldis Ērglis, a Machine Learning lab lead at Emergn.

HRMNY.ID - machine learning technology for personality pattern recognition

It has been proven that all people exhibit certain behaviour patterns, commonly known as personality. These patterns influence the way we think, behave, react, and make choices. Knowing these behaviour patterns let us predict and influence people’s behaviour - design a real personal experience. A Latvia based company “HRMNY Human Technologies” is building an AI-based technology that deciphers cognitive patterns of human behaviour to improve people's life, help them build stronger relationships, and unleash their full potential. The core of their technology lies in an artificial intelligence/machine learning algorithm trained by anonymous and carefully marked data provided by experts with decades of experience in cognitive sciences.

When technology analyses a photo, it recognizes around 50 patterns. These patterns get matched with a behavioural framework and converted into a set of personality parameters and preferences. Company calls it HRMNY.ID. AI-based behavioural framework provides insights on customers' motivation, values, fears, priorities, beliefs, communication traits, even vocabulary to use. HRMNY methodology is built on top of proven Cognitive psychology and behaviour science and supported by main physiognomy principles.

Asya ‒ an app for mindful communication

Although we seem to be more closely connected than ever and communicate more today, people have moved away from each other in this digital era and communication has become more complicated. When talking, the same thing can be said with different emotions (without changing the content) thus obtaining two diametrically opposite results, so it is necessary to use emotional intelligence that allows you to read human emotions and other parameters. Some people are more capable in this area than others, so the start-up Asya.ai is working on a solution that would help understand emotional intelligence for anyone and allow improving communication skills.

The mobile app developed in Latvia is like a mirror of artificial intelligence for a human voice and provides an immediate feedback on conversation between two or more participants ‒ listening ratio, brevity, pace, pauses and other useful metrics. The artificial intelligence models used in this app are based on the several years of work by a group of the Riga Technical University researchers and extremely large datasets, thus excluding a subjective assessment of emotional intelligence. Moreover, Asya is an Ethical AI company and does not store the contents of conversations. The app is currently focused on building happy and healthy couples, but Ēvalds Urtāns, one of the Asya.ai co-founders, points out that trials for improving sales and customer service processes will also be conducted soon.

RIGA COMM is an annual business technology event in the Baltic States where developers and suppliers of enterprise resource management, document management, HRM and security systems, suppliers of cloud services, internet and digital marketing services, web solutions and mobile application developers, and ICT product manufacturers offer ready-to-use and tailored solutions for companies in different industries and of different sizes, municipal authorities and organisations to facilitate efficient operation.

The technology-rich exhibition is complemented by an extensive conference programme. In two days, more than 80 lecturers will speak from four stages in at least six events. In recent years, the RIGA COMM business technology event has been attended by approximately 5000 managers at different levels and professionals from Latvia and the rest of the Baltics. A special app and meeting area will be available to make it easier for visitors and participants to meet, communicate and collaborate successfully during the event.

RIGA COMM is held by the International Exhibition Company BT 1 in cooperation with Intelligent Machines Riga, Riga TechGirls, SmartHR Latvija, Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mailigen, Finance Latvia Association, the Communication Agency A.W.Olsen & Partners and other partners.
