OpenSynergy paves way for next-generation autonomous devices with virtualization for ARM’s most advanced real-time processor

To address increasing software complexity in devices such as autonomous vehicles and industrial control systems, this approach allows for the isolation of safety-critical functions from those that require less stringent control. In addition, it enables the consolidation of applications onto fewer electronic control units (ECUs) to both manage complexity and reduce cost.

ABB wins $640 million mega deal for long distance power transmission link in India

Volvo Cars adds Microsoft’s Skype for Business to its 90 Series cars

Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has announced that it will introduce Skype for Business, Microsoft’s leading collaborative productivity app, to its new 90 Series cars. Volvo Cars is the first carmaker to launch such an in-car productivity tool.

“We’ve all been there. Sitting in the car trying to join a conference call. You either fumble with or drop your phone while trying to connect or you forget the long pin code to join. It’s not the best way to start an important call in the car. On top of all that your attention is not where it should be – on the road. With the addition of Skype for Business all that goes away,” said Anders Tylman-Mikiewicz Vice President Consumer Connectivity Services at Volvo Car Group.

Meet Koda - a concrete house You can have in 7 hours

Group of Estonian designers and engineers constructed simple house, what uses solar energy and can move with You.

Small house is built ecologically. Air in a KODA house is cleaned and keeps right level of humidity. Vacuum-insulated concrete walls keep warmth and stop noise, with solar panels on the roof You can be almost energy independent. Usually KODA returns more power to the grid than it uses. Features like these mean that little or no energy is wasted:

• use of smart systems
• thin but well-insulated walls (with a U value of 0.1 W/m²K)
• quadruple glazing (with a U value of 0.3 W/m²K) and
• innovative LED lighting and architecture (which makes maximum use of sun).

AEG Power Solutions Launches its Hybrid Energy Storage Solution, Cutting Down Costs of Energy Storage Systems

The new platform is a unique system combining battery energy storage with Power-to-Heat technology. Solution targets the primary control reserve power reducing capital expenditure by 30 % and possibly more, depending on installation.

AEG Power Solutions has developed a Hybrid Energy Storage System which combines standard battery storage with power-to-heat technology to reduce the total cost of energy storage operation.

The solution can be installed in any type of facility which uses thermal processes, including local heat networks in combination with an electrical distribution network.
